From just looking at the Equifax website, it’s a little difficult to understand what is different between some of their product offerings. They have a nice product comparison page, but it fails to include ID Patrol, and the search functionality on their site isn’t very helpful either. It also doesn’t help that there are two different programs named Complete. So, I decided to compare Equifax ID Patrol, Equifax Complete Advantage, and Equifax Complete Premiere to see what’s the difference between the Equifax plans.

Equifax Complete Advantage

Equifax Complete Advantage - Not Recommended

They claim that this is the most popular plan, but I really don’t understand why. First off, for $16.95, it doesn’t include some of the major features from ID Patrol, namely Automatic Fraud Alerts and Lost Wallet Protection. In fact, compared to the other two options, I really can’t recommend this plan to anyone. It costs more than ID Patrol but offers less.

The basic features of credit report monitoring are there, but for the price, it doesn’t really make much sense to choose the “Advantage” plan over ID Patrol or Complete Premiere. The ID Theft Insurance plan in Advantage only covers up to $25,000 compared to $1,000,000 in both of the other programs.

This plan offers much more than Advantage, although it’s a bit more costly at $19.99/month. This program offers credit score monitoring, but it only monitors your credit score from Equifax. You do get access to Experian and TransUnion scores once per year from both Premiere and Advantage, but in order to have automatic alerts whenever your credit score changes, Premiere is the way to go. Both plans allow you to manually check your score whenever you’d like, but Premiere makes the process more automated.

Other advantages of Premiere over Advantage include the ability to lock your credit file and unlock it whenever you’d like, automatic setting of credit fraud alerts, and their patented Web Detect, which monitors criminal websites to detect when your personal information is being traded or sold. This identity fraud protection is actually one of the key features of ID Patrol as well.

Equifax ID Patrol

First off, ID Patrol is not exactly a credit monitoring package, but it contains many of the same features as both of the Complete products. It is first and foremost an identity theft protection package, utilizing the same Web Detect technology as Complete Premiere. ID Patrol also gives you access to one copy of your 3-in-1 Credit Report, plus unlimited access to your Equifax report.

It offers the $1,000,000 insurance protection as well as the automatic fraud alerts from the Premiere package. ID Patrol does not, however, show you your credit score. That is really the only disadvantage of ID Patrol compared to either of the Complete plans. We have a more detailed review of ID Patrol here.

Bottom Line Recommendation

If you really want access to your credit score on an ongoing basis, then I’d recommend Equifax Complete Premiere. For only a few extra dollars per month, you get access to every single feature offered by the company.

However, if you want to save those extra dollars and don’t need your score very often, then Equifax ID Patrol is the way to go. I can’t recommend Equifax Complete Advantage at all. It costs more than ID Patrol, and the only real feature that sets it apart is the credit score access. Most people generally don’t need to look at their score more than once per year (or even less), so I don’t consider that a very useful feature, personally.

Don’t forgot to look at our Equifax promotion code page to potentially save some money on these products (note, there isn’t always an Equifax promotion going on, but if there is, StartProducingWealth.com will be one of the first to know about it).
